Load balancing : Load balancing among links : Link load balancing for outbound traffic

Link load balancing for outbound traffic
You can configure FortiADC to route outbound traffic from your servers using either a pool of ISP links called a link pool or a virtual tunnel.

Static and policy routes configured using the Router menu have priority over outbound link load balancing settings. If traffic matches criteria specified by static or policy routes, FortiADC disregards any outbound link policies.
To configure load balancing for outbound traffic
1. Define health checks that you can apply to either ISP links or virtual tunnels (“Monitoring link health or availability”).
2. If you want FortiADC to maintain the same outgoing gateway for packets with a specified source or destination IP address, define a persistence configuration that you can apply to link pools. See “Adding persistence to outgoing link load balancing”.
3. If you want FortiADC to determine which ISP link is the most efficient route to a destination, or to configure static routes for specific destinations, create a proximity route configuration that you can apply to link pool. See “Configuring routing by most efficient route or static route”.
4. Configure the items that you use to define the outgoing traffic that FortiADC applies a link policy to. Your can define link policy traffic using the following settings:
An IP address or address range (“Defining an IP address configuration to use with a link policy”)
A protocol or a protocol and port range (“Defining a protocol configuration to use with a link policy”)
5. If you want to control when a link policy is used, define a schedule (“Defining schedules to use with a link policy”).
6. To define the links over which FortiADC balances the outbound traffic load, create one or more link pools (“Defining your pool of ISP links”), a virtual tunnel (“Defining your pool of ISP links”), or both. Specify the algorithm FortiADC uses to distribute traffic and, for link pools, any persistence configuration you want to use.
7. Create a link policy that specifies a FortiADC network interface, outgoing traffic, and a schedule with either a link group or a virtual tunnel. See “Routing outbound traffic through a link pool or virtual tunnel”.
