Basic network topology
Your network routing infrastructure should ensure that all network traffic destined for the backend servers must first pass to or through the FortiADC appliance. Usually, clients access backend servers from the Internet through a firewall such as a FortiGate, so the FortiADC appliance should be installed between your servers and the firewall.
Figure 1 shows a basic deployment. To balance loads among server clusters at different locations using global load balancing, duplicate this topology at each location.
Other topology details vary by the features you enable. For example, a topology for high availability (HA) clusters or one for network designs that use network address translation (NAT) might be different.
