Defining a virtual tunnel
You can configure FortiADC to route outbound traffic through a virtual tunnel instead of a link group.
The virtual tunnel feature builds a tunnel between two FortiADC appliances and balances traffic across multiple links to each appliance. For example, you can create a virtual private network (VPN) between a branch office and headquarters for application-specific access.
When you add members to a virtual tunnel configuration, you specify a local and remote IP address. These addresses are IP addresses assigned to a network interface on the local and remote FortiADC appliance.
FortiADC dispatch outbound traffic to the members of a virtual tunnel group using the following two methods:
VT-WRR — Dispatches packets by bonding multiple sub-tunnels under virtual tunnel.
VT-CHASH — Dispatches packets by source IP-destination IP tuple.
To configure a virtual tunnel, go to Link Load Balance > Outbound > Virtual Tunnel.
