System templates
A system template is a subset of a model device configuration. Each device or device group can be linked with a system template. When linked, the selected settings will come from the template, not from the Device Manager database.
By default, there is one generic profile defined. System templates are managed in a similar manner to policy packages. You can use the context menus to create new system templates profiles.
System templates support the following settings:
• DNS
Networking options including IPv4 and IPv6 DNS settings and local domain name. Optionally, you can select to import DNS configuration from a device.
• Time Settings
NTP server settings with the FortiGuard server or a custom server. Optionally, you can select to import time settings configuration from a device.
• Alert Email
Configure a SMTP server, authentication, SMTP user and password. Optionally, you can select to import alert email configuration from a device.
• Admin Settings
Configuration options including web administration ports, timeout settings, and web administration.
• SNMP
Create a new SNMP v1/v2c and SNMP v3 community. Optionally, you can select to import SNMP configuration from a device.
• Replacement Messages
You can select to import replacement messages objects from a device.
• Log Settings
Logging and archiving settings to configure logging to a FortiAnalyzer/FortiManager or a syslog server. Configure upload options and select to encrypt log transmission.
• FortiGuard
Configure FortiGuard security updates. Select to retrieve updates from FortiGuard Servers or from this FortiManager.
You can create or delete templates with a context menu by right-clicking the profile. You can select to create a new template or import a template from an existing device. You can then select particular devices that will be associated with the profile. You can link a device to the system template using the Add Device Wizard, from the device’s dashboard page in Device Manager, or by right-clicking to edit the template and select devices.
