Caching HTTP objects to reduce back-end server load
FortiADC allows you to configure a RAM cache. This cache stores HTTP objects in FortiADC's system RAM that are reused by subsequent HTTP transactions to reduce the amount of load on the back-end servers.
To configure a RAM cache
1. Go to
Server Load Balance > Resources > Caching and create the caching resource.
2. Complete the following settings:
Maximum Object Size | The maximum size of object that FortiADC stores in the cache. FortiADC caches one object per URI. |
Maximum Cache Size | The maximum amount of memory that FortiADC provides for caching. |
Maximum Entries | The maximum number of objects that FortiADC stores in the cache. |
Maximum Age (sec) | The period of time after which FortiADC revalidates a cached object with the origin server. |
URI Exclude List | Specify URIs that FortiADC does not cache objects for. |
3. Go to Server Load Balance > Profile > Profile and add or select an HTTP or HTTPS profile for the virtual server.
4. For RAM Caching, select the caching resource that you created.
5. Go to Server Load Balance > Virtual Servers > Virtual Server and add or select the virtual server to add caching to.
6. For Profile, select the profile that you enabled caching for.
